What is Rotary?

An international organization founded in Chicago in 1905 by a young attorney, Paul P. Harris, who gathered in a spirit of friendship and understanding a group of men, each of whom represented a different profession or occupation.

Today, more than one million service minded members belong to more than 30,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 160 countries. Rotary is an open society of men and women who simply believe in helping others.

What is the commitment?

As always the case when one joins an organization, an individuals reward and satisfaction is contingent upon how much he or she commits to it. The Rotary Club of Kankakee meets every Thursday at noon. Each meeting includes a feature speaker and program.

We encourage 100% attendance, realizing this is not feasible for every member. However, 60% attendance is expected, either at our meetings or at other Rotary Club meetings. “Make-Ups” are possible at any Rotary Club worldwide.

Part of the enjoyment of Rotary is the fellowship and business networking at the weekly meetings.
